Brave Beats

Children’s Program

Enhancing Safety. Instilling Joy.

When fleeing an abusive situation, mothers and their children seek refuge in shelters that offer temporary housing and social support. Brave Beats offers a nonthreatening outlet for emotional expression and helps to regulate stress responses for children living in these circumstances.

Moreover, music therapy provides a safe space for these children to process trauma through creative engagement, fostering a sense of control and promoting healing through rhythmic and melodic experiences.

The board-certified music therapist:

Offers bi-weekly children’s music therapy to foster joy and coping skills.

Applies age-appropriate, setting-relevant interventions.

“When you bring music into a space with the purpose of having it be therapeutic, it can open a person up…to communicate...to decrease that sense of isolation they might have felt due to their trauma.”
