Therapeutic Songwriting
In this distinctive individualized music therapy program, clients embark on a musical journey to compose a song that captures their own unique experience. Supported by a board-certified music therapist, clients create their personal story of survival in song.
Clients then perform these powerful narratives in a recording session alongside professional musicians and sound engineers. Their music therapist will be right there beside them during the recording session for support and guidance. Once all eight individual recording sessions have taken place, the tracks are mixed then compiled into a digital album.
This music not only provides a powerful therapeutic outlet for the performers but also creates a lasting artifact—an album that amplifies the survivors’ journeys, offering understanding and hope to others navigating the impact of sexual or intimate partner violence.
Having sponsored two inspiring Songs of Survival albums, we are eager to empower more individuals through this meaningful program with additional funding.
